Compassion Prison Project (CPP) focuses on bringing adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and trauma awareness to prisons and communities. We’ve created compassion-based curricula for people who have experienced ACEs, empowering them with awareness, information and tools for healing.

CPP is innovating to find ways to connect our work through Zoom conferencing and social distancing given the times we live in. CPP’s programs have served several state prisons in person and we are currently running programs over Zoom with great success.

The Prison and Community Outreach team’s goal is to identify local partners, organizations and groups across the globe, connect them to CPP’s curriculum and training and empower them to bring these tools to their local facilities and communities.

When we look at why those kids are in the justice system, we find out they’re there for trauma, toxic stress [that’s] undiagnosed and unaddressed.

Our team is currently working to identify existing programs within the prison system and related organizations to explore collaborative opportunities. We seek to share our vision with a diverse cross-section of individuals, groups and systems related to:

  • Prisons, jails and detention centers
  • Foster care
  • Law enforcement
  • Schools
  • Unhoused populations
  • Community centers
