Day 36 - Understanding

Understanding others helps us relate to how people might feel in a certain situation and allows us to make sense of how they might react. Understanding how others feel, act and react helps us build better relationships and supports a culture of nonviolence.

Reflection
  • Imagine what it’s like to walk in another person’s shoes.
  • How might their past experiences influence who they are today?
  • When you find yourself disagreeing with someone, focus on understanding what they are saying and why.
Action
  • During your conversations today, take time to actively listen to what the other person is saying.
  • Tell them what you understand about what they are saying and allow them time to explain further if something is misunderstood.
