Day 49 - Ecology

The Seventh Generation Principle is based on an ancient Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) philosophy that the decisions we make today should result in a sustainable world for seven generations into the future.

Reflection
  • Each of us can begin to heal the environment by changing our daily habits.
  • Nonviolence extends from ourselves, not just to our brothers and sisters, but to the earth as well.
  • Waste is stuff we haven’t found a purpose for yet.
Action
  • Imagine you are planning the world for someone seven generations from now.
  • What would that world look like?
  • Think of three ways that waste can be reduced in your community or find an environmental cause and think of ways that you, and your community, can support their work.
  • Take one action toward these ideas today.
