Day 52 - Advocacy
Become an ally. Without blaming or judging others, listen from your heart, and speak out with love for those who are disrespected, abused or unheard.
Reflection
- Every action for peace requires someone to exhibit the courage to challenge violence and inspire compassion.
Action
- What does it mean to advocate for yourself, another person or a cause?
- If you are aware of injustice and unfairness, know that you have a voice and that you can make a difference.
- Write about some ways that you can advocate for a better world today.
“When the world is silent, even one voice becomes powerful.”
Malala Yousafzai
“Never be afraid to raise your voice for honesty and truth and compassion against injustice and lying and greed. If people all over the world...would do this, it would change the earth.”
William Faulkner
“We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.”
Elie Wiesel
“All advocacy is, at its core, an exercise in empathy.”
Samantha Power
“Don't just speak for yourself, Be who stands up for somebody else.”
Janna Cachola
“Be dedicated to change the way in which people see mental illness, at all levels of society. If not for yourself, advocate for those who are struggling in silence.”
Germany Kent
“Personal stories have the power to move people from apathy to empathy to action.”
John Capecci and Timothy Cage
